Snorkeling in Cozumel, Feb 2023

On the last day of vacation, we went snorkeling with the whole Herd of Katz.  Before I got too much sun, Pablo lent me his hat.

For us land folk, the boat jump is always a time to pay attention.  The crew was great about taking our stuff and helping us aboard.

All those impossible blues

First stop was over this shallow reef.  Super popular spot, so easy.

Thanks to the Katz for the underwater photos!

Second stop was sea star city.  They were everywhere, beautiful white sand.

The newest water Kat

The third stop was lunch near a shallows that was known for sting rays.  Every few minutes some would swim by, even when we were in the water.  Snorkel on, pop under and watch them glide by.

Typical boat lunch on diving days.  On the snorkel day, Sergio brought along his home made grill and we had burgers!

Forth stop, nap time.

Cozumel diving trip, Feb 2023

 Diving

My rash guard got stepped on by the random dog while drying, lol.

The pier where the boat picked us up every morning.

All we had to do was walk next door

Basic, but super functional

Our boat was not fancy, but efficient and super functional

See all those boats in the back.  We routinely saw 10-20 other dive boats on our trips.  Clearly diving is the thing to do in Cozumel.

Underwater communication -Wow!

We spent one day going to the mainland.  The ferry is key, there is one leaving every hour and it was packed.

We happened to be there on Mardi Gras.  The ferry terminal was decorated and the workers had sparkly makeup.

Special art everywhere.

The pier at Playa del Carmen

It used to be a sleepy beach town, but tons of retail stores have popped up.  But some of it is cool.  We went to Xel Ha and I went down the longest water slide I've ever been on.

Cozumel diving trip, all around the house, Feb 2023

First tropical vacation and trip to Mexico-woo hoo!  Our good friends, a Herd of Katz, invited up to join them on a dive trip to Cozumel.

The house was perfect.  Backyard pool with an ocean view.

The shady hut next to the pool became a handy place to play card games.

The house managers had a couple dogs that would visit randomly.

Welcome message is done with power washing.

The house was huge-lots of rooms and beds and extra space.

Funky/fun architecture enhanced the vacay feeling

Of course we opened a coconut.

Why yes, we did buy random snacks from the supermarket....every other day.

You can get into the ocean from our back yard.

We had a lovely mother/daughter pair cooking for us.  Delicious, homey meals, but this came from the house managers-super sweet folks took great care of us.
