I tried to recreate this photo on our recent trip

Grampa stayed at the beach catting up the vacationers while we hiked in to the falls.

The trail is a little trickier to find and hike.

So, see the sand?  Not the best place to drive the minivan.  This was just after we pushed it out :)

I remember being blown away by just how much sand, how much cliff, how much ocean....and no people

I love the fungi and lichens!

Sugar was still ongoing so we stopped and checked out the production.

We stayed at a cute B&B-our own cottage with an outdoor shower-loved it!!

We arrived and devoured the pineapple that was supposed to be for breakfast, they brought us more :)

One of my first amazing trips was with E- and his family to Kauai back in 1994.  I just got the photo album scanned so I'm just going to recreate it here.  All the photos and album composition are Paul's with a few comments by me.

The road that doesn't quite go around the island hasn't changed.

As we stood there the clouds started coming in and when we left the view was completely obscured.

Grandparents were on the trip.

Some of us were fascinated with the red dirt.

Oh that hair.

I loved the idea of visiting the waterfall featured on the opening of Fantasy Island

Getting to swim in it was amazing-I still remember swimming directly under the falls-exhilarating!
