World Cup soccer, France June 2019

World Cup soccer, France June 2019

Trip to France for the Coupe du Monde Feminine, 2019!  Time constrained, we chose 3 matches close in time and space.  Details of the tourist parts of the trip in future posts!
Great mascot/logo-super cute!  This shirt only came in kids sizes...what?!?

Fun postcards!

First game day Valenciennes!

The overcast was perfect because it was hot hot hot.

Woah!  These are the biggest horses I have ever seen.

I'm thinking these are Percherons or Belgian drafts horses.  Didn't stop them to ask!

Team folks set up the field for warm up.

You can see that we got there early, almost no one else is in the stands yet

Then I got engrossed in the game and didn't take any more pictures. LOL!  We did try some stadium food, the Valenciennes burger...maybe it was chicken?

They gave away the coloring book and postcards at the tourist center-so smart!

Second game day Le Havre!  Our seats were directly under the press box, super weird, no chance of being on the jumbotron.  Exciting game, fun to have a ton of USA supporters.

Again I only took photos during the warm up :)  Great post-game shuttle system.  It was a little out of the way for where we parked, but minimal walking and super easy.

Last game, Valenciennes.  Sooooo hot!  And this was at the beginning of the heat wave!

England vs Cameroon, one of the early Round of 16 games.  This game had a bunch of controversy that we couldn't quite figure out while it was happening.  Somehow much of the action on the field happened way over on the other side, so not the most exciting game.  I sat next to a lovely young man just graduating college and we talked, mostly not soccer.

The kids who spread out the big logo preparing to go onto the field.

Fine, if you won't make the cutest shirt for me I'll buy the one you did make.  I do like how the women's shirt make the flag.  Simple iron-on, you would think they would make nicer stuff....oh right, this is FIFA...corrupt AND inept.  Sigh!  We are interested in going to South Korea in 4 years despite all that!
