A few fun jigsaw puzzles, October 2019

A few fun jigsaw puzzles, October 2019

There is something about fall that just means it's puzzle time.  These puzzles waited patiently for just the right weekend.

First up a fancy wooden whimsey cut.  Look at all these tiny pieces!  First I sort by color.

It is easy to pick out the red

or white/yellow.

It is an art puzzle, so the whimsey shapes are super cute.

This was the easiest to put together.

Hunting by shape is pretty hard because the cutting is so tricky.  But at some point I ran out of interesting colors so had to do some shape hunting.  Luckily there are not too many pieces.

The end result is gorgeous.

The next one is the front page of the New York Times from a personally important date in history.

First sort by pieces with a picture, pieces with large font and just regular type.

On the day, Boris Yeltsin was making the news along with Clinton trying to reform his character and there was a fire in Brooklyn.

It was really easy to decide what to do next and fun to read as I went.

Finished!

Next puzzle is very very very tiny pieces.  Also woodcut, but small and light.

At least the the outside is easy.

The pieces snuggle up against one another-no snapping into place.  Not to hard to place using the picture and some shape hunting.

Finished.  So small!

Final puzzle of the weekend is the hardest.  600 pieces, double sided, odd shape.

Start with the outline but don't finish it completely before moving into colors,  Red!

Yellow then blue then faces.

Some areas were a little easier to spot.

This end took longer than the middle.

Do you have the theme yet?

Star Trek!  Fun shots of the most famous scenes and the crew.  The other side is the ship, 90% gray!  I'm not sure that is fun enough to do.

Loved it!  Would do this one again for sure.
