Funky art show? I am all in! 10 different pieces, most of them need to be seen in place. My understanding is that he was an artist in residence and got inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia. Though go to his website and some of the pieces were around previously and just happen to fit this exhibit.
Silver Sea
Impressive on many levels, so large, the individual lights fade in and out, very beautiful in the twilight and darkness, great use of the giant lawn. My favorite for sure.
Gathering of the Clans
Set up 5 clotheslines, accompanied by sound - sort of animal-like? (I looked it up, cockatoos!)
Hand made fluorescent clothes pins.
I love them up close!!
Near impossible to photograph, but cool effect!
Lit by black lights.
Bacchus' Spring
The sculpture is always there, the light is the added art.
The added light makes the faces pop. Looks sinister to me, not sure if it would look better in the daylight with water.
Neat technique, gives a different look up close and far away.
Reepicheep's Wave
This piece is set on the stage of the outdoor amphitheater. Meant to be seen from the middle of the seating section. From the front you can see a wave shape in the lights (good photo on his website). Accompanied by music that continually 'rises', never quite 'crashing'.
Ramandu's Table (with Reepicheep's Wave in the back)
Maybe just an excuse to place a whole bunch of pink flamingos?
I mean, sure it ties into the story (flock of birds on Ramandu's Island, sun rise) but this doesn't seem so awesome to me.
Cool to watch the color change.
But I might be cranky because I felt it took away from the Owls, which I wanted to see more of.
Parliament of Owls
This one got gypped on placement. Off in the back behind the flamingos and I would have liked more of it/to see it up close/in a more interesting setting.
Light Shower
Super pretty, seems like it could actually be mass-market sellable, so, art?
Even though this one is the easiest to move anywhere it is apparently staying here.
Good Seed
Light posts welded together to form a dandelion shaped seed.
Favorite thing about this was the walk to see it. Down the hill, along the creek, almost spooky in the dark.
Dawn Treader
I couldn't photograph this at all. It is a window over a main entrance and the ship is always there. The added art is the coloration which continuously changed.
In addition to this great map they had docents all over the place to tell you about the pieces.
