NYC Metropolitan Art Museum May 2019

NYC Metropolitan Art Museum May 2019

Our first try at going to the Met ended with us giving up and going home soggily in a cab-LOL!  So we on Monday with big success!

Inspired exhibit at the Met this spring!
(okay, not as good at the Bowie exhibit from last year, but still!)

Over half of the exhibit were guitars.  Great way to show off how different they can be.

Wow!  I had no idea!

The fancy backlit portion is distracting, but this a piano.  Specifically Lady Gaga's artpop piano!

Fashion was such a big part of Prince I'm glad they included this outfit.

The shoes!

From when he was 'formerly known as Prince'

Exhibit on 'Camp' in conjunction with the Met Gala.  Made the papers because people are all in a fuss about what camp is or is not.

Big discussion about Susan Sontag's definition (10 different points to consider), etc...
For me, meh, I like that there are some super wacky ideas out there.

The presentation was nice, traditional lead up with history info finished in one large room surrounding you with levels of outfits.  Like the Tiffany bag dress :)

We had just enough time to dash through the Temple of Dendur and the sculpture garden to see some of our favorites.
